The French senate has modified the law/project regarding Notre Dame de Paris’ reconstruction, getting rid of mentions of bypassing certain rules of urbanism and restoration as well as decrying the self-imposed 5-years schedule. More importantly, the right-wing, conservative-minded assembly decided against architectural changes of any kind.
The elimination of the schedule received widespread agreement, with many senators agreeing that the reconstruction should not become a rushed botch-job done for PR purposes, in spite of Macron’s insistance that the cathedral will indeed be repaired in five years at the end of last month.
Paraphrasing a few quotes; it’ll take the time it’ll take, just because the president is saying five years doesn’t mean it’s gonna be the law.
I just love Five Year Plans.
They always work out SO well!
